Unwind With TV This Summer

Summer is busy.

Free time is limited, jobs get in the way and friends have different schedules. When weather is nice and you just want to be outside, TV is usually the last thing on your mind. However, when you’re alone, it could be all you need at the moment. It also works as great background noise while you chill with your friends or get ready to leave. If you can walk out, mentally or physically, from the show for ten minutes still enjoy it, you know you’ve found a summer relaxation show.

The standard Nick at Nite shows can be watched at any time of the day. Friends, Full House and How I Met Your Mother all work perfectly.

Then there’s always reality TV and similar shows. Basically anything on HGTV or Food Network work wonders. Love It or List It is always a good pick. The sexual tension is too real. Also, House Hunters and House Hunters International are always prime. Fighting with your friends over which house they would pick is guaranteed to be a good time. And Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen are wonderful picks too. What could be better than awesome dishes normal people could never make getting eliminated for improper seasoning? Of course, no list is complete without mentioning constant Keeping Up With the Kardashians reruns, as well as Caitlyn Jenner’s new show.

Another option is rewatching shows you’ve already seen a million times. The point is that it should be light-hearted and/or overly dramatic for no reason. The middle of the summer is hardly the time to start watching Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad. They are way too intense.

Lastly, there are the shows that air during the summer. So maybe it’s not quite relaxing to watch a new show, but it would not be right to ignore them. To be fair, they are summer shows, so even though they’re new, you only need to dedicate a minimal amount of attention at any given moment.

You can pretend you won’t watch TV this summer and it will only be filled with vacations and evenings out with your friends and family every night, but that’s just not the case. There’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs alone time.
