5 Shows To Rewatch In Your 20s

Sometimes you may feel like turning to the comfort of an old TV show rather than starting a new one and learning new characters’ quirks and personalities. Rewatching a TV show can bring a lot of warmth and it’s so easy to fall back into your favorite characters’ lives.

What’s even better is it seems with each rewatch of a TV show, you catch more and more things you might not have caught the first time around. Sometimes, as you grow older you find yourself relating to the characters and their situations in different ways than you had in the past—sometimes even siding with another character. Because of that, here are five TV shows you should rewatch (or watch if you haven’t already seen them) in your twenties.

  1. Friends This one is kind of obvious. Friends is never a bad option. It’s a great show to watch when you’re in your twenties simply because that’s how old the characters are at the start of the show. A majority of the characters are in their mid- to late-twenties and are going through similar things many twenty-somethings are going through today, such as starting a new job, getting cut off from parents, and moving in with friends. It’s fun to watch and rewatch the show and see what character you relate the most and sometimes you can even take away some useful lessons. It’s never a bad thing to be clean (all you Monica’s out there!). It’s a show about relationships, careers, and getting to know yourself, as many in their twenties often do.
  2. Gilmore Girls This show is so easy to get lost in. There can be a lot of stressful and trying times in your twenties and Gilmore Girls can be a sweet escape. A lot of people find the character of Rory Gilmore, the book-loving wholesome daughter of Lorelai Gilmore, to be very relatable. If you watched it when it was on and are in your twenties now, it’s possible you literally grew up alongside her. Rewatching in your twenties it’s interesting to see if you still relate to her as much as you did in the past. If you still like her boyfriends. And if Lorelai is as cool as you remember. At some point you realize you may not agree with Rory as much as you once did and perhaps relate to Lorelai a lot more than you do Rory. It’s interesting to see that transition. Also, rewatch it now and hopefully by the time you’re done the much anticipated new episodes will be released on Netflix.
  3. One Tree Hill Hands down, One Tree Hill is one of the most ridiculous shows I have ever watched; and I mean that in the best way possible. The situations the characters would get themselves into were things that I probably only dreamed about when I was their age. But this is exactly why you should rewatch this show. You’re able to escape your life to a world of make believe and get your imagination flowing again.
  4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer I will forever stand by my feelings that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is way before its time. That’s not to say the show didn’t do well while it was on. Vampires and other mythical characters for that matter have blown up during the past few years and on top of that, Buffy is one of the most powerful female characters I have ever seen on TV (and, take it from me, I watch a lot of TV).
  5. Parenthood Parenthood is another show where each time you tune in you might relate to a different character. Whether it’s going through health issues like Christina Braverman, dealing with an unexpected pregnancy like Amber, or simply figuring out where you fit in like Sarah, there’s usually at least one character you’re pulling for. Aside from that, it’s a great show about family and love. And watching it just reminds you how lucky you are and how precious life can be.

Bonus:

  1. Happy Endings It may be risky, but I’m willing to say Happy Endings was the modern day Friends that was gone too soon. Although it only lasted three seasons, the show was filled with kooky characters and hilarious plot lines. It’s the perfect show to watch when you just want to sit down and binge TV.
