How to Rock the ’70s Look

Thinking about 70’s fashion may conjure up visions of bright and tacky peace signs and free love, but it was the beginning of a fashion revolution.

Now, these looks are coming back in a big way. Use these 70’s statement pieces to add some good vibes to even the most modern outfit.

Fringe

If you want to add texture to an outfit, fringe is perfect. Jackets, dresses, and boots can all feature this fun 70’s trend. Keep the rest of your outfit simple so the fringe stays the star.

Flare Pants

Let go of your skinnies and embrace flares. Not only are they more comfortable, but they are also great for highlighting your booty and legs! Choose jeans or a bold print for casual weekend outfits, and flared trousers made out of nice material for the office.

Vests

Like a warm hug, vests are perfect for those season transition days where it’s chilly, but not quite cold enough for a full coat. Fur and crochet vests were 70’s staples, and they can look just as great in 2015 when paired with a dress or a sweater with leggings or jeans.

Breezy Dresses

Use the 70’s trends as an excuse to wear super comfy and flowing dresses. They embody the free spirit vibes of the era and look great, while still letting you easily move.

Suede

Materials can be the defining part of a fashion era. Suede is that material for the 70’s. Super soft, it can be worn in shirts, dresses, skirts, or shoes. Try out fun colors if you’re looking for a way to keep your outfit modern.

Jumpsuits

If you’re looking for a sleek way to dress up, jumpsuits are the way to go. Keep it looking mod by pairing a monochromatic jumpsuit with heels, simple jewelry, and a coordinating bag.

Bold Prints

Neons defined the bright patterns of the 70’s, so tone it down for 2015. Paisley, stripes, and florals will all pop with modern flair in rich jewel tones and neutrals.

Bell Sleeves

A loose peasant top is incomplete without the 70’s defining bell sleeves. Make sure they fall just to your wrist to keep your arms from drowning in fabric, and experiment with dresses and different types of tops with this style.

Button-Up Skirts

This trend is helping to bring back the infamous denim skirt. Buttons create a line to make you look slimmer, and the short length works in any fabric: denim, suede, or leather, to name a few.

Headbands

If you need a way to top off your 70’s outfit, look no further than a great headband. You don’t have to go full-on flower child; a simple metallic braid or vintage looking crochet headband will still add a 70’s vibe without looking too over the top.
