I think life can be compared to a good book. There’s a beginning and an end, and many different pages and chapters in between. With every page turned, the end of a chapter nears. As the story and its characters develop on those pages, there’s the possibility of some great plot twists and lessons learned before we get to the conclusion we’ve long awaited.
Today, I’m turning the final page of one chapter in my life’s book.
When I started Pink & Black in college, I had no idea it would bring so much joy into my life. The people I met, the pieces I wrote and got to read, the moments of growth and endless learning opportunities are all things I’ll treasure for a very long time. This unique and fun project I created is one of my best pieces of work and one of my proudest. I gave other young writers the chance to put words together and see their name on the web. I watched the content, contributors, brand and website design develop as I was doing the same myself. I gave other women my age a place to visit online. I led different groups of talented writers and editors to an end goal. A lot of people don’t get to do any of that.
As I write this, I’m not sad but proud. Pink & Black became exactly what I wanted it to on many levels. Some goals were unreachable, but I don’t feel defeated. The decision to end Pink & Black’s production came months ago. This website will still remain here, but new content will not be published after today.
What comes next is something I’m still working on. I need to give my attention to some other developments in my life and the current writers and other editors are all working on their own exciting careers. This is only the end of one chapter. There’s still so much more left to read into for us.
